"To provide accountability for the legally authorized use of Borough funds and approved revenues."
The foundation for this mission statement lies in the belief that
Borough citizens are willing to invest in their community in proportion
to their trust that their dollars are being used properly and for their
benefit. Improving the quality of life in the Borough requires many
parties to contribute many things. Our contribution to this goal, in
fact our duty above all else, is to provide accountability for Borough
funds such that our citizen's willingness to invest in this community is
enhanced and improved as a consequence of their trusting that their
money is used as they intend.

Filing Deadline Extended for Sales and Excise Tax Returns
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fairbanks North Star Borough is extending the due date for all monthly sales and excise taxes: hotel-motel room taxes, alcoholic beverage taxes, tobacco distribution excise taxes, and marijuana & marijuana product sales taxes. Instead of being due on the 15th of the month following the reporting period, reports and remittances are due on the last business day of the month following the reporting period.
The extended due date takes effect immediately and goes through the June reporting period due on July 31, 2020. If your business is closed due to COVID-19, you must still file your reports and remit any taxes collected by the extended deadline. All other terms and conditions are unchanged.
